Jim Howe - November 2, 2007

It's with great sadness I post the loss of a dear friend, Jim Howe. Jim passed away October 13, 2007...five nights before he had shared his love of music at a jam session at my cottage...I'm grateful for that evening...I just don't have words at this time to express how much I'm going to miss him as a friend and a superb musician...musically,he always gave his best and brought out the best in all of us. I took a photo of him at the music get-together October 8...I've
added it to the Photo section of this website...For All We Know...If anyone ever lived who found more joy in music than I do-it was Jim...your buddy misses you.

The Press Room 2007...great fun! - September 13, 2007

Sunday, September 9, 2007 marked another great evening at The Press Room in Portsmouth, NH...the room was filled with friends of jazz, family, and people as far away as Jacksonville, Florida. The trio, Gerry Wright, piano; Jim Howe, bass; and Terry Gilmore (who did a fantastic job of filling in for Les Harris, Jr. who was out of town that evening) on drums really cooked...and I served up the vocals to an appreciative audience.

We really would like to thank all the regulars who attend this gig...and a special thanks to The Halls of Portsmouth, NH and Castine, Maine who always support us in both towns.

The gigs would not happen for us without your support. We really appreciate it.

Diane Sings Under Venetian Stars - June 11, 2006

On my recent month-long trip to Italy, I sang at La Cantina in Venice with the Max Bustreo Quartet. This particular night Max, and the other musicians, decided to perform outdoors on Campo San Felice whereupon the four of them rolled the upright over the threshold and got underway. Excellent musicians and by 9 PM a large audience had gathered to get in on the session, sitting at candle-lit small tables in the square feasting on the delicious plates of tapa's prepared at La Cantina. It was a magical experience for me...singing under the stars, sharing the joy of making music with my new Italian friends.
